Volks Railway

Britain's oldest electric railway built in 1883, running for one and a quarter miles along the top of the beach from the Aquarium Station near Brighton Pier to the Marina. Trains every 15 mins. Cafe and toilets opposite.

The Three Full Time Volks Staff are renewing 100 yds of track and track bed west of the Train Sheds Paston Place, that is taking place up to Christmas, look out for the bright yellow 1 ton JCB that the engineer Barry Fuller will be driving, and then from December 29th to April 1st all the fleet of five trains are undergoing refurbishment to the wooden and metal parts and electrical systems dating back to 1901 ready for the second spring tests by the ADIPS train Inspector.

The railway is due to re-open for the 2009 season at Easter.
